from the bride and groom:
“We wanted a venue near or on the water that was like a “blank canvas” so we could personalize all of our unique touches. Lighthouse Point Park was exactly what we were looking for- a simple, yet pretty venue in a beautiful park on long island sound, and another perk, it had an antique carousel inside! We loved the lighthouse right outside the reception venue as well! Emily’s favorite color has always been pink- so it really wasn’t a hard decision to choose various shades of pink for the wedding colors. Bobby and his guys were happy to sport pink ties and pink and gray argyle socks to compliment the girls’ dresses. In order to add our own personal and unique touches to aspects of the wedding, we wanted to include many DIY crafts. My mom began referring to the wedding as “the wedding of a million pieces,” because the many various supplies that went into making this day beautiful-from beads and ribbons to flip-flips and seashells. The favors were one of our favorite DIY projects. For the ladies we had “wine glass charms.” For the guys we gave glass photo coasters which held pictures of some of Emily and Bobby’s favorite NYC spots- grand central, east river, Brooklyn Bridge and skyline of Manhattan from long island city queens, the photos were taken by the couple! While the small details were important, we really just wanted to throw one big fun party! It was most important to us that everyone had an awesome time celebrating their marriage. This is why Bobby spent hours upon hours creating an unforgettable iTunes playlist! Our favorite parts of the wedding include the beautiful toasts, the choreographed bridal party dance, the soul train line, our custom cake topper, the carousel riding by guests young & old, and spontaneous dance circles all night!”
